ABDUL QADIR JUNEJO (A Dramatist, Story writer and literary Figure)
Abdul
Qadir Junejo was born in Village Jinhan, Taulka Mithi, District Tharparkar on 13th
September 1945. He is a great
dramatist, story writer and a literary figure. He is B.A, B.Ed and M.A in
Sociology from Sindh University. He began his
professional career as a primary teacher in 1962 and secondary teacher in 1971.
Finally, he was appointed at Institute of Sindhology on different posts.
Among his works, dramas and stories are matchless. His first story muth
muth sooran jee (1964) was published in “Rooh Rihan” magazine. He has
written twenty dramas for television and thirty, for radio. His most famous
drama Rani Jee Kahani was telecasted from PTV Karachi centre and was
translated in English, Urdu and Chinese languages. Among other Urdu outstanding
plays khansahib, choti si duniya, deewaren, seerhiyan introduced new
trend to drama. He is God gifted writer whose poetic style of writing prose
makes him high-flying. His stories have also been translated into Urdu, Gujrati,
Hindi, Punjabi and Chinese languages. For his services in the world of drama, the
government of Pakistan awarded him award of “Tamaga
e Husn e Karkardagi” in 1988. Besides, he has received PTV Silver
Jubilee Award(1988), PTV Award(1983, 1985, 1998), Nigar Award (1983), SGA Award
( 1983) & other awards. He has written following books: Watoon
Ratiyun ain Rol (stories), Weendar Wahi Lahandar Si j(stories), Sono
Roopo Sij (stories), Dukh Sukh (stories), Shikliyun
(Khaka), Wada Adeeb Wadiyun Galhiyun (Translation), Everest Te Charhai (Translation), Cho
Cha ain Keean (Translation), Biyan Adeeban Ja Khat, Kursi (Essays) &
other books.
