ABDUL MAJEED SINDHI, SHAIKH (Eminent Writer, Scholar and a well known journalist)

Abdul Majeed Sindhi was born on 7th July
1889
in a Hindu family in Thatta. He was a famous writer, scholar, politician, journalist
and a good person. Since childhood he was in the search of right that’s why on 10th
February 1908
he became a Muslim in front of Shaikh Abdul Rahim at Hyderabad. He matriculated from
Thatta then became Munshi at a senior advocate Mr Deechand Ojha. Afterwards he
lived at Hyderabad where Rais Ghulam
Muhammad Bhurgari made him editor of his paper Al Ameen. Having been
inspired from his intellect Bhurgari Sahab made him, his political advisor. He
was an active participant of Reshmi Rumal Tahrik, by Molana Ubedullah Sindhi, in
which he was imprisoned in 1919 for three years. Later, he addressed against
the English in a procession in 1920 at Larkana and was again imprisoned for two
years. In 1924 he became editor of Daily Al Waheed. Through this platform he
incited the Muslims. On 16th
November 1929
he participated in All India Muslim League at Allahabad; All India Khilafat
Conference at Ajmeer, All parties Muslim Unity Conference and Azad Sindh
Conference at Karachi (1930). His efforts for
the separation of Sindh from Bomby shall be cherished. Sindh was separated from
Bombay in 1936, he took part
in the first election of Sindh Assembly (1937) from his own party and defeating
Sir Shahnawaz he became member of the assembly. In 1940 under the ministry of
Mir Bunda Ali Khan he was made Minister in Sindh. In 1943 he left Muslim League
and joined All Pakistan Awami Tahreek which was made by Abdul Ghaffar Khan in
1949. Abdul Majeed Sindhi also wrote some books. Such as: Fateh Spain, Hazrat Umer Bin
Abdul Aziz (R.A), Karachi Sindh Khe Milan Ghurjhe, Al Murtaza, Tareekh Jawahir,
HAzrat Ali & Hazrat Umer (R.A). Shaikh Sahib expired on 24th
May 1978
at Hyderabad and was buried at
historical Graveyard Maklee near Makhdoom Mohammad Hashim
Thatvi according to his will.
